This
Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) consists of a collection of
geographic datasets, including maps, satellite imagery, and other geospatial
information that are used to support various GIS projects. The datasets have
good data quality, it is reliable, free to access, support different file
format. GIS professionals can determine the suitability and potential
usefulness of CSDI datasets for supporting future GIS projects. It helps in
making informed decisions about their integration and application in GIS
analyses and spatial planning.
In
the map I created, I added some parks, and some places related to the natural
environment and ecological environment, observed their spatial distribution.
The
green points are Country Parks, that’s why You can see that they are
distributed in areas covered by green vegetation, and the overall distribution
seems to be uniform, covering diverse landscapes such as mountains, forests,
coastline, and reservoirs. They could offer some activities like hiking, while
also serving as important conservation areas for biodiversity and natural
ecosystems.
The
blue points are the Location of Marine Parks and Marine Reserve, so that they
are along the coastline and islands. From the map it shows that they are
located in different parts of Hong Kong, including the New Territories,
Outlying Islands, and Sai Kung. The Marine Parks and Reserves offer various
marine habitats, such as coral communities, rocky shores, and diverse marine
life. The spatial distribution of these areas aims to protect and conserve the
marine environment while providing opportunities for sustainable marine
recreation and education.
There
are 127 orange points which represent Parks, Zoos and Gardens, you can see they
are distributed in residential area. It can guess that these places in the
urban areas, there are smaller neighborhood parks and playgrounds that provide
green spaces for residents to enjoy.
Last
but not the least, the yellow lines are several ecologically important streams
that play a vital role in supporting the region's biodiversity and natural
ecosystems. The streams mainly gather in the northeast and southwest. Many of
these streams are located in areas with high ecological value, including
country parks, nature reserves, and areas of high biodiversity. Some of the
ecologically important streams are found in the New Territories, these streams may
important for maintaining water quality, supporting aquatic life, and providing
habitats for various species of flora and fauna. Additionally, several streams
are located in the rural and less developed areas of Hong Kong, perhaps they
are providing a natural environment that is crucial for the conservation of
aquatic species and the overall health of the ecosystem.
By
looking at the distribution of these places, we can see the Hong Kong
government's efforts to balance urban development and nature conservation. The
highly urbanized Hong Kong has a good surrounding ecological environment, so
that citizens can have a relax in those urban parks, country parks and marine
parks in their leisure time.
